Our work in social justice is our faith made visible.
Ours is a covenantal religion. We are not bound by a creed–something we all agree to believe, but rather by a set of principles and values that say how we are going to be together.
Relationship then, is central to our faith. Our relationships call us to show up in particular ways and this becomes, in part, our justice work. Part of our covenant is with the earth and that relationship also calls us to justice work–environmental justice work.
Different congregations have different relationships and therefore engage a wide variety of justice work. Some congregations create their own projects, some plug into existing work and some spiritually support their members that do their good work through their jobs or other outlets. However congregations do this work, I think it is important that they are justice oriented. Ours is a faith for this life. We want to make this life good for everyone.
