I believe in the power of story. In doing Interfaith work, we come to know the stories of people outside of our faith. Once we know someone’s story, we can’t help but be more connected. This builds bridges and widens the circle of our concern. When all goes well, these partnerships leverage the effectiveness and reach of the work. When all goes well, the moral authority of the partners is amplified and more can be done to heal the hurting world. I love interfaith work for these reasons–the opportunities to learn from more people, the opportunities to grow my circle of care and the opportunities to heal our corner of the world. Even when people come from a very different orientation, shared work can give us a place to meet.
